Pink Pilates – Helping Women After Breast Cancer

by Carol on February 14, 2010

Pink Pilates is a Pilates based program originally developed in New Zealand to help women who have had any type of cancer surgery.

It’s primary goals are:

  • Strength building
  • Rebuild confidence
  • Teach relaxation
  • Increase mobility

Pink Pilates was created by Lou James a physiotherapist based in Auckland and has been adopted by Lisa Tasker in Brisbane.

Having clients in our own private classes who have had breast cancer (and other cancers) we can attest to the fantastic benefits these clients have had both physically and mentally.

Pilates is ideally suited to people who have  injuries because, if taught correctly and with a therapeutic slant will help them make tremendous progress and really receive the benefits Pilates can bring.

Pilates strengthens from the inside out and can therefore be done by almost anyone (assuming they’ve been cleared to exercise by their health professional)
